5 Reasons to do Vanlife!

Nomad living is a fun and freeing experience that everyone can be a part of. Choosing van life (buslife, RV life etc.) is achievable by anyone looking to travel, explore and save money while doing it. Below are 5 reasons why you should do vanlife!

#1: It is Affordable

Many of the vans that are on the road are used vehicles! You can be a part of the vanlife movement with vans on the market ranging from as low as $1,500 (before renovations) to upwards up $10,000's - depending on what you're looking for. In the long run, vanlife is very cost effective. You will be using less water and electricity. Many of your bills will come in the form of optional gym memberships (some as low as $10.00 a month), water-refill ($0.30 per gallon or less), gas, and insurance (dependent on your personal needs). These are just a few of your expenses that add up to a fraction of what you would be paying in a mortgage or rent.

#2: You can travel the country, the continent, or the world!

Living in your van is unimaginably cheap compared to hotel stays + eating out. If you live in your van you can choose low-cost or free campsites, and cook in your van. So this means a cross country road trip will cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars less than the standard long-term road trip itinerary.

But don’t just stop at the country border! Many van lifers are traveling throughout Canada and Mexico. And if you’re really itching for adventure, there are many shipping services that ship vehicles across the ocean!

#3: You can do your own DIY renovations

You don’t need to hire a contractor to renovate your van. Many vanlifers are grabbing the goggles and strapping on the gloves - hammer in hand. With some planning, and dope DIY Youtube videos, don’t be afraid to take some of the renovations into your own hands.

You can create your own unique space made just for you and your family. And when the time comes when you are faced with a task that you aren’t so sure about, you can call on seasoned vanlifers to find what they have done and who they know that can help you!

#4: Connect with nature

There is nothing like the great outdoors. Vanlife allows you the opportunity to pitch up at a campsite, start a fire and watch the stars scatter the sky with the comfort of sleeping in a bed and having power if needed. Vanlife gives you the best of both worlds. If you’re into getting submerged in nature but aren’t ready to go off-grid, vanlife offers a safe transition to a more natural lifestyle.

#5: You get to meet other vanlifers who are doin' their own thing

Vanlife allows you to meet all sorts of new people who have their own unique builds, and often have a new and innovative way to better do that ‘thing’ that you’ve been struggling with. You get to trade secrets, share stories and explore what else this adventure has to offer. You will meet people who will encourage you to get outside of your comfort zone and form friendships that will stay with you for a lifetime.
